Practical consulting arises when the adviser:

• Knows the client's business within its national context.
• Applies bottom-up approach, that is, collects significant evidence and bases the abstract model on it.
• Participates in defining the problem and offers a research algorithm aimed at looking for the answer instead of formal completion of the mandate terms
• Has the bulk of data (via databases) readily available before the actual work begins.
• Accumulates knowledge, not information
• Speaks the client's language
• Provides synergy to the client's operations
• Follows up on the client's business and forms the knowledge base for other projects.
